The Department of Politics and International Studies seeks to make a senior appointment in Comparative Politics or Political Theory.

For the Political Theory appointment, the Department is particularly interested in candidates with expertise in Comparative Political Thought and Political Philosophy who can take forward additional programme development in these areas.

For a Comparative Politics appointment, the Department seeks expertise in Southeast Asia, although other areas of regional expertise will also be considered (e.g. Turkey, Japan, West Africa, the Maghreb and other relevant specialisations in Asia, Africa or the Middle East).

You will expected to have an outstanding track record of producing research of international quality, as well as extensive experience of teaching courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. You will also be responsible for supervising postgraduate and research students, and be expected to take a prominent role in future programme development, and to enhance the Department’s research culture and environment.  Additionally, you will  contribute to the Department’s public profile and engagement activities.
