CALL FOR PAPERS: Britain and Ireland Association for Political Thought conference, 6th-8th January 2022 – St Catherine’s College, University of Oxford, UK and/or on line – arrangements to be confirmed.
Academic Convenors: Adrian Blau (King’s College London), Ben Holland (Nottingham), and Marie Moran (University College Dublin). Conference Convenors: Gary Browning (Oxford Brookes) and Elizabeth Frazer (Oxford).
The APT conference has taken place annually in Oxford in January since the 1970s, and is the flagship event of the scholarly community of political theorists across the UK and Ireland. It brings together scholars working across the whole field of political thought.
In addition to the traditional plenary papers, which in January 2022 will include James Alexander (Bilkent), Maeve Cooke (UCD), Cecile Fabre (Oxford), and Amia Srinivasan (Oxford), there will be panel sessions, roundtables, and workshops, we are excited to invite different types of proposals from political theorists, philosophers, and historians of political thought:
(1) Paper abstracts (300 words) and proposals for panels consisting of 3-4 papers (up to 750 words);
(2) ‘Author meets critics’ or topic focussed roundtables (proposals including provisional list of participants up to 750 words);
(3) First book workshop (where monograph manuscripts will be presented by authors and discussed with selected respondents). To be considered, please submit a description of your manuscript in no more than 750 words;
We look forward to a conference that represents a diverse set of intellectual traditions, including analytic and normative political philosophy, the history of ideas, all traditions of critical theory, comparative/global political theory, and so on. Panels that cut across traditional disciplinary boundaries and submissions from graduate students are welcomed. Convenors of panel sessions should consider diversity of participants.
To submit an abstract, a panel proposal, a roundtable, or a proposal for a first book workshop, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. The final deadline for submission is 11 pm UK time on May 31st 2021.
